Looks like Gravatars have now made it into the official WordPress support forums. A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an 80×80 pixel avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites. If you already have an active account with Gravatar, and you used the same email address for your Gravatar account that you used with your WordPress support forum account, the gravatar image will automatically display for you. Those without an image will end up seeing a silhouette which isn’t that cool. To change that, sign up for your own Gravatar account using the same email address you used for your WordPress forum account.
The concept of Gravatars is awesome because it allows you to update your avatar in one location which then translates into any service currently supporting Gravatar. As I’ve noted before, the Gravatar acquisition will probably go down as one of the best for a company.
