Icojoy - Somewhat Affordable Icon Sets

Icojoy.com is a new website which has a somewhat large category of icon sets for sale. According to their website, they have about 6,973 icons within their catalogue. The icon sets range from web themed, CD’s, transportation and more. Most of the icon sets range between the prices of 15$ for the cheap ones up to about 79$ for the expensive set.

Once you purchase an icon set from Icojoy, you’ll be sent an email which contains an archived version of the icon set you purchased. Most of the icon sets that are available contain files in the following formats: .ico, icns, .png, .tiff. It’s also worth noting that these are not the only source formats supported. Each icon set seems to have it’s own support for various source files. As for icon sizes, again it depends on the set. I’ve seen icons ranging from 128 pixels to 16 pixels, with all sorts of sizes inbetween.

While shopping around for icons, keep an eye out for the information menu on the right side of the website which will only display when you click on an actual icon set. This area is what I’d like to call the information sidebar. It contains information such as product type, product name, amount of icons, icon sizes, source files available, and price. As for icon piracy, I thought Icojoy did a nice job preventing folks from ripping the icons from their preview images by placing diagonal black lines through each of the icons.

From what I could tell, most the of the icon sets looked decent, but after covering the release of free icon sets for some time on this blog, I have to admit that some of the free packs I’ve seen blow the ones being offered on this site out of the water. However, the choice to purchase a set of icons from Icojoy is left up to you, but I would search around the net looking for a free icon pack that is close to what you want before you spend a chunk of change on any icon set.
