Sharing The Comment Luv

After reading numerous posts from other blogs across the blogosphere, I’ve finally decided to go ahead and install the CommentLuv plugin on this blog. Comment Luv is a plugin which attempts to parse the RSS feed from the commenter’s website. That website is defined by the URL that is submitted into the comment form by the user. This plugin combined with the Dofollow plugin which I also use is one more way of rewarding you for commenting on this site and being part of the conversation.

Only comments posted from this day forward will have the ability to be parsed. However, I have set the plugin up so that the parsing is an opt in type of option. That means, you have the choice on whether you want the post to be parsed or not.

So there you go. One more way of giving back to those who have given me some of their time and attention.

  1. I’ll take some of that Luv. Good healthy Luv between men, eh Jeff ;)

  2. Well, that’s embarrassing. I didn’t see the checkbox!

  3. Looks like it is working. thanks for the test. I think I will need to style it so it stands out a bit more.

  4. One of the things I don’t like about it is the comment luv text is actually saved as part of the comment, and not separate. At least it was when I looked at it a few months ago.

This means when you deactivate it, the text still remains.

    It’s a great idea though :)

  5. Ronald is right, but if the link actually stays the same from now on, I think that’s possibly a better model. Then the post is always in historical context.

If anything Jeff, I’d style it a point size smaller.

Spamming you with a different blog this time ;)

  7. I really like this plug-in, its helpful to make a community around your blog.

When someone comments on a blog, i guess around 80% people do visit the website even for if its to check for spam and sometimes people like the articles written and comment on the site too.

Its good to create such a network.

  8. @Gary - Thanks for stopping by and you are welcome for the post.

@Mohit - I click on comment author links all the time. To check to see if the site linked to is spammy but also to check and see what it is that user might be writing about. I’ve actually subscribed to quite a few sites which I discovered through the links that commentors have used in their comments.

  9. I’ve been using Commentluv for a while now and really like this plugin. It transforms your blog into more of a community.

    Have a great day!
