As you know, I will be attending WordCamp Dallas this weekend but there are plenty of people who can’t attend this event due to one reason or another. Since I am privileged to be able to attend, I’d like to give back to the readers of this blog and to the listeners of WordPress Weekly by asking you to give me a question.

If you were to attend this conference, what question would you ask and to who would you ask it to?

You have until Friday morning to leave a comment with your question in tact as that is when I’ll be taking my magic carpet ride to Dallas. I will print the list of questions and bring them with me and hopefully get them all answered on my digital voice recorder. The question and answers will be part of the WordPress Weekly Episode 12 audio.

For a list of people who will be attending this event, check out the WordCamp Attendee List.

I would like to ask Ryan Boren who he sees as Wordpress’ biggest competitor from a platform perspective for self-hosted blogs? (as opposed to sites competing with wordpress.com)

A follow up would be what features would he like to see implemented in WP that this competing platform already does well?

@Keith Excellent question Keith. If Ryan actually attends the event, I’ll try to get this one to him. If not, I’ll throw the question Matts way.

I would like to ask anyone with authority within the community, or Automattic, whether they feel there is a danger that the fast pace of development, and level of organisation / profits now being seen in the community will shut out the individual hobbyist who wants to make his or her mark.

If more context is needed you can point to premium themes, and GSOC which is done by students with way more time on their hands than many hobbyists who have to work while this is occuring.

Sorry guys. While I was attending the event, I didn’t feel comfortable with my audio setup. I didn’t have my voice recorder set up with a microphone and anything less would of been awkward along with horrible sounding. I did take photos and some videos as well as asked numerous questions to a large number of people which I hope to share.

I did manage to get Matt to agree to come on the show WordPress Weekly so when he does, please keep these questions handy as you’ll be able to ask him yourself.
